  • This award celebrates regional architectural firms that have designed the most inspiring and ground-breaking structures for Middle East developers in the year leading up to the event. Nominations should demonstrate a firm’s design prowess and commitment to sustainability.
  • Firms offering more than four disciplines, in addition to or including architecture, should nominate in the ‘Multi-Discipline Consulting Company of the Year’ category.

  • Formerly known as ‘Workplace of the Year’, this award recognises organisations that strive to improve themselves, and provide the best and most flexible environment for employees to excel and grow in their personal and professional lives.

COST CONSULTING COMPANY OF THE YEAR
  • Cost consultants are essential to the success of projects and here, the region’s most efficient, respected and professional firms will be commended. Companies should use their nominations to demonstrate how their approach and expertise kept a project on budget, without compromising quality.
  • Companies specialising in quantity surveying/cost consulting can enter this category. Firms that provide four or more disciplines, in addition to cost consultancy, should apply for the ‘Multi-Discipline Consulting Company of the Year’ category.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT COMPANY OF THE YEAR
  • This award recognises companies that have provided efficient and effective FM services to residential and/or commercial real estate developers across the Middle East. Companies should use their nominations to highlight their expertise and the value they bring to clients.

GENDER DIVERSITY CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
  • Recognises a company that actively worked to balance the gender scales and/or encourage the next generation of professional through focused initiatives and strategies. This includes but is not limited to diversity friendly HR practices, as well as engaging with schools and universities to build a future pipeline of regional talent.

INDUSTRY INFLUENCER OF THE YEAR
  • While the regional construction industry has moved forward in many ways compared to years gone by, there is still room for improvement. This award recognises companies that decided to champion a particular cause and made consistent efforts to drive that positive change in the sector in the twelve months leading up to the awards.

  • Formerly known as ‘Technology Champion of the Year’, this award is open to consultants that have, in the year leading up to the awards, developed or deployed technology that enabled them to better service client requirements. Nominations should highlight how the technology or solution enabled it to meet client requirements. Client testimonials will add significant weight to nominations.

  • The design of interior spaces is more important than ever before. This award recognises specialist firms that planned and delivered stunning, functional spaces across regional residential and commercial projects.
  • Companies that are primarily interior design focused can nominate for this category.

  • Lighting design is a key part of modern projects and this award honours consultants that have delivered distinctive and impressive lighting across several projects. MEP ENGINEERING COMPANY OF THE YEAR
  • This award honours firms specialising in the mechanical, electrical and plumbing discipline. Companies should use their nomination to highlight their expertise in delivering efficient and cost-effective solutions to clients in the 12 months leading up to the awards.
  • A company that specialises in the MEP discipline can enter this category. Companies that offer four or more disciplines should nominate for the ‘Multi-Discipline Consulting Company of the Year’ award.

MULTI-DISCIPLINE CONSULTING COMPANY OF THE YEAR
  • Celebrates firms that have made a significant contribution to the region’s-built environment within the past year. Companies with a base in the region that boast a portfolio of four or more disciplines are eligible for this award i.e., architectural design, project management, structural engineering and MEP.

ONSITE SAFETY CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
  • Construction site safety is of paramount importance and with this award, Middle East Consultant is recognising firms that championed, and achieved, sterling safety on their projects. Firms that are nominating for this award should use their submission to demonstrate how they tackled safety and what that translated to in terms of safe people hours on site. Official safety certificates will add to the credibility of your nomination.

  • This award shines a light on standout project management companies, which have helped to keep regional projects on track and on budget.

  • This award recognises consultancies boasting niche expertise, which includes but is not limited to acoustics, experience design, dispute resolution, fire & life safety, security, wayfinding etc.

START-UP OF THE YEAR
  • This category honours firms that have recently set-up for business in the region. To qualify for this category, companies should have been established in the last 24 months and have either delivered or are engaged on construction projects. Companies older than 24 months will automatically be eliminated in the first round of shortlisting.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING COMPANY OF THE YEAR
  • Recognises structural engineering companies that have provided the most intelligent and innovative structural solutions to clients. Companies should use their submission to show results of their work and innovation in the year leading up to the awards.

SUSTAINABLE CONSULTANCY OF THE YEAR
  • Honours consultants that specialise in sustainable consulting. Companies keen on nominating should provide evidence of their skills and abilities in their submission, along with references and notable examples of their work from the last year.

URBAN DESIGN & LANDSCAPING COMPANY OF THE YEAR
  • This category honours an urban design and landscaping firm that has created attractive, functional and sustainable outdoor spaces in the 12 months leading up to the MEC Awards. Nominations should clearly demonstrate a firm’s aesthetic capabilities, commitment to sustainability and focus on delivering spaces that are functional.
  • Companies that specialise in urban design or landscaping can enter this category. If you are a multi-disciplinary firm with four or more disciplines, please submit your nomination to the ‘Multi-Discipline Consulting Company of the Year’ category.

Individual Awards


  • EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR
  • UNDER 30 CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR
  • This award honours executives (male or female) who have taken market dynamics in their stride and steered their firm to business success in the 12 months leading up to the awards. The submitting nominee must hold a senior management position within their respective organisation.

UNDER 30 CHAMPION OF THE YEAR
  • Formerly known as ‘ME Consultant’s Rising Star of the Year’, this award recognises up and coming talent within the Middle East construction industry. The nominee must be under 30 years old and have at least two years of experience with the firm to be eligible.

  • WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION: PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR
WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION: PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR
  • Recognises professionals who have been delivering exceptional work and earned the attention of colleagues, peers and clients in the twelve months leading up to the awards. The nominee must be directly involved on regional construction projects. Professionals in the HR, PR and marketing fields are not eligible.

Project Awards


  • PROJECT OF THE YEAR
PROJECT OF THE YEAR
  • This category recognises the region’s top construction projects under the following sub-categories:
    • Residential & Commercial
    • Hospitality & Tourism
    • Retail & Public Facilities
  • Consultants interested in nominating should submit no more than two nominations across all three categories. Firms should use their nomination to highlight the client’s vision for the project and the subsequent real-world aesthetic features, complexity and how it was overcome, impact on the community, functionality, ground-breaking features, and sustainable elements.
  • Only projects that are ongoing (40% complete at least) or have been delivered in the twelve months leading up to the awards qualify. Projects that are in the design stage will not be considered by the panel of judges.

  • SUSTAINABLE PROJECT OF THE YEAR
SUSTAINABLE PROJECT OF THE YEAR
  • Recognises projects that feature sustainable design and engineering elements, sustainable materials and modern processes. Consultants submitting for this award should use their nominations to show clear evidence of the project’s sustainable underpinnings.
  • Only projects that are ongoing (40% complete at least) or have been delivered in the twelve months leading up to the awards qualify. Projects that are in the design stage will not be considered by the magazine’s panel of judges.
